The 2010-11 Midwest Collegiate Conference men's basketball preseason poll has been released, and St. Ambrose has been predicted to be favorites based on a vote of league coaches.
The Fighting Bees narrowly edged Mount Mercy for the top spot, garnering 77 points and five first-place votes in the poll. The Mustangs were picked to finish second and had 73 points and three first-place votes.
St. Ambrose finished 18-13 last season and was 9-7 in the MCC to tie for fifth in a very balanced year in which the top six teams were separated by two games. The Bees return First Team All-MCC forward Mike Kennedy and MCC Newcomer of the Year Justin Tiner and in all bring back six of their top seven scorers from last year.
Mount Mercy tied for third in the league last year and was one of four teams to win 20 games. Defending MCC tourney champion Grand View was picked third and received the other first-place vote.
