        <title>[Women's Basketball] Jersey of IWC's Jones to be displayed at Women's Basketball Hall of Fame</title>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;MOUNT PLEASANT - The jersey of Iowa Wesleyan College women's basketball star Anna Jones has been requested for display and will be hanging in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tenn., starting this summer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Jones's jersey was requested for use by the Hall after she was named an NAIA Division II First Team All-American after this past season. The jersey will hang from the rafters of the Hall along with jerseys of other top collegiate and high school players from the 2011-12 basketball season. It is the second time an IWC player's jersey has been requested by the WBHOF, as former All-American Jessi Beachey's jersey hung in the Hall after the 2009-10 season. &lt;/div&gt;</description>

        <description>&lt;p&gt;La Crosse, Wis. &amp;ndash; Viterbo University Women&amp;#39;s Cross Country and Track &amp;amp; Field standout &lt;strong&gt;Emma McCarthy&lt;/strong&gt; (&lt;em&gt;Sr. &amp;ndash; Eleva, Wis.&lt;/em&gt;) was recently awarded the St. Catherine&amp;#39;s Medal. This award recognizes students who represent the high ideals of a Catholic college education through demonstrating leadership and service to the community. McCarthy was one of only three Viterbo University seniors to be recognized for this award.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;The Midwest Collegiate Conference men's outdoor track &amp;amp; field all-conference honors for the 2012 season were announced following the MCC Outdoor Championships held in Clinton.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;All-conference awards go to all athletes finishing in the top three in individual events, or in the top two in a relay event, as well as to the top performers in the conference this season in the decathlon and racewalk. Honorable mention awards also go to any other athletes meeting the NAIA automatic qualifying standard for the national championships. Gabriel Green of William Penn was named Track Athlete of the Year after winning the 100, 200, and 400 meter events at the championships. Tyler Wells of Grand View was named Field Athlete of the Year after winning the shot put and finishing second in both the discus and hammer throw. Chris Adams of Ashford and Jerry Monner of Grand View were named MCC Co-Coaches of the Year. Between men's and women's participants a total of 22 conference records were set at this year's MCC Outdoor Championships.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

        <title>[Baseball] MCC baseball all-conference honors announced</title>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;The Midwest Collegiate Conference has announced its all-conference honors and Gold Glove team for the 2012 baseball season. Thirty-six athletes were recognized as part of the all-conference teams as voted by the coaches and nine were chosen to the Gold Glove Team. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Iowa Wesleyan senior outfielder Michael Mendoza (San Gabriel, Calif.) was named the MCC Player of the Year. Mendoza led the MCC in four categories, pacing the league in doubles (21), home runs (eight), runs scored (47) and total bases (108). He also was second in the conference in both runs batted in (45) and slugging percentage (.593) and tied for fifth in hits (61). This year he set IWC single season and career records for doubles and helped the Tigers reach the finals of the MCC Tournament.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;The Midwest Collegiate Conference has released its all-conference honors for the 2011-12 men's golf season.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Grand View senior Josh Manske (Algona, Iowa) was voted as Player of the Year for the second straight season. Manske posted individual top-10 finishes in nine of ten tournaments entered this year, including two wins and six top-five finishes. He was medalist at the NAIA Brickyard Classic at the Brickyard Crossing course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at an invite including a number of the NAIA's top programs.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

        <title>[Men's Track &amp; Field] Vikings Defend MCC Title; Wells Four-Time Field Athlete of the Year</title>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;Grand View brought home the men's MCC Outdoor Track and Field Title in Clinton, Iowa yesterday. While reigning in five events throughout the championships, the Vikings finished on top as a team with 238 total points in the two-day event.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Senior Tyler Wells was voted as the&amp;nbsp;MCC Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year for the fourth time; two in the Indoor season and two in the Outdoor season.&amp;nbsp;He also had six national qualifying marks. Wells won, set a GV school record, and hit an &quot;A&quot; standard mark the shot put (17.56m) and took second in both the discus (47.99m) and the hammer (48.45m). His discus distance was also an &quot;A&quot; standard mark.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

        <title>[Women's Track &amp; Field] Second Straight Outdoor Championship for Viking Women</title>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;For the second straight year, the Viking women's track and field team brought home the MCC Outdoor Track &amp;amp; Field Championship. The women won eight events and hit five national qualifying marks to tally a team score of 235 in the two-day event held Friday and Saturday in Clinton.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;GV held a considerable gap over runner-up St. Ambrose (157.5) followed by Ashford (139), Mount Mercy (107.5), and Clarke (92) to round out the top five.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Viking senior Obsie Birru (Des Moines, Iowa) capped off her MCC career with a fourth consecutive MCC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week award. Birru won three individual events over the weekend (1,500m, 5,000m, 10,000m) and ran a leg on the winning 4x800m relay team.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;The Midwest Collegiate Conference has announced its all-conference honors for the 2012 softball season. Thirty-eight athletes were recognized as part of the all-conference teams as voted on by coaches. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;William Penn senior outfielder Khyia Lewis (Ottumwa, Iowa) is the 2012 MCC Player of the Year. Lewis led the conference in a number of categories, including runs batted in (56), doubles (16), total bases (131), slugging percentage (.789) and on base percentage (.462). She also tied for the MCC lead in both home runs (16) and runs scored (53) and was third in batting average (.367) and hits (61). Lewis is 10th in the NAIA in home runs and also ranks in the top 20 nationally in total bases and RBIs, and helped the Lady Statesmen to the MCC regular season title.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

        <description>&lt;P&gt;The Vikings took the field in Peosta on Thursday afternoon one win away from an automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament.&amp;nbsp; Grand View and Iowa Wesleyan squared off for the second time in consecutive days and the Vikings came away victorious again.&amp;nbsp; This time the 7-4 victory gave the Vikings the MCC Tournament Championship and the automatic bid.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Grand View's junior Jared Meggison (Grimes, IA) took the hill looking for his third victory of the season and he allowed two earned runs over seven innings.&amp;nbsp; The right hander gave up six hits, walked four and struck out two Tiger hitters.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

        <title>[Women's Track &amp; Field] Mount Mercy's Higgins named NAIA national Field Athlete of the Week</title>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jenna Higgins of Mount Mercy (Iowa) has been named the NAIA National Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of The Week and Nikita Tracey of Oklahoma Baptist has been honored as the NAIA National Women's Track Athlete of The Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Higgins and Tracey were selected based on their performances from April 23 - 29 and are the final awards of the 2012 season. Tracey is the fifth-straight Bison athlete to garner the outdoor track weekly honor.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Higgins, a junior from Eldridge, Iowa, bettered her own school record for the third-consecutive week, this time coming at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. She posted a 160-0 toss in the javelin, which was a NAIA automatic qualifying mark and the best in the nation this year. She reached 160 feet for the first time ever and the three competitors that finished ahead of her were NCAA Division I athletes.&lt;/div&gt;</description>
