Penn Softball Signs Pair of Iowa Preps for 2007 Campaign

Oskaloosa, Iowa--William Penn University softball coach Mike Christner has announced the signing of two Iowa high school athletes to National Letters of Intent to attend the University in the fall and compete for the softball program.

Alissa Crumley is a two-time all-conference pitcher at Riverside HS in Oakland.  The native of Oakland and daughter of Mark and Rhonda Crumley, Alissa has also claimed all-district and Honorable-Mention All-State laurels and still has one year of prep competition remaining this summer.

Hanna Meinecke was an honorable-mention all-conference selection as a first baseman last year for Jefferson-Scranton HS.  The native of Jefferson and daughter of Darrell and Rita Meinecke, Hanna is a three-time letterwinner and also earned the team’s Offensive Leader Award in 2005.  She will also be entering her senior year of competition this summer.

The Lady Statesmen finished 51-22 last spring, advancing to the program’s first-ever national tournament.
