Read Signs With Waldorf College

South Hamilton High School standout Laura Read has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to continue her softball career at Waldorf College in Forest City. Read is a two-time Mid-Iowa and Heart-of-Iowa Conference selection.  She was named to the Class 1A All-Tournament Team at the 2003 Iowa State Tournament when the Hawks finished 3rd.

Read is a four-year starter in the outfield for South Hamilton.  She hit .348 last summer as a junior.

Warrior head coach, Denny Gilbertson, likes what Read will bring to his squad.  “Laura is a great addition to our team.  She is an outstanding student, a great athlete, and a solid individual who is a good fit for our program.”

Waldorf has won back-to-back Midwest Classic Conference crowns and posted a 52-11 record in 2005.
