Two Signed to Ashford Women's Basketball Program
Clinton, IA - The Ashford University women’s basketball program has announced the signing of two student-athletes.  Joining the Saints next season will be Roni Connelly, who prepped at Washington (IA) High School, and Amara Ward, a native of Fulton, IL. [More]

Hansen Commits to Saints Men's Golf
Clinton, IA - Mike Hansen, a Clinton, IA native, will transfer to Ashford University and compete on the men’s golf team in the Fall of 2006.  Hansen spent last year at the University of Iowa.

“We are pleased to have Mike join our program.  He is a solid golfer who will contribute right away to our program,” comments Ashford Head Men’s Golf Coach Chris Powers. Hansen will join former Clinton High prep Chad Ehrhart, who was Ashford’s top golfer last season. He plans to study business at Ashford.

 

Ashford Baseball Signs Five
Clinton, IA -Ashford University Baseball Coach Bob Koopmann has announced the signing of five baseball players.  These prospects will join the Ashford University Saints’ program for fall 2006. [More]

 

Ashford Men's Basketball Signs Bukacek
Clinton, IA - Erik Bukacek, a senior from Racine, Wisconsin, has chosen to continue his basketball career at Ashford University.  This past season, Bukacek, a 6’6” forward, averaged 10 points and 9 rebounds for the Prairie School Hawks, coached by Mount St. Clare College alumnus Lance Marifke.

“We are pleased to have Erik join our program.  We feel he has the potential to become a very fine college basketball player,” comments Ashford Head Coach Andy Eberhart.

Bukacek, the son of Nick and Lynn Bukacek, will study business at Ashford.

Joiner Commits to Ashford Men's Basketball
Clinton, IA -
Daniel Joiner, from Bartlett High School (IL), has signed a letter of intent to continue his basketball career at Ashford University.  Joiner, a 6’2” guard who scored more than 1,000 points in his career at Bartlett, averaged 19 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals per game his senior year.  He was also an All-Area Player and a unanimous All-Conference (Upstate 8) performer.

“Daniel is a very skilled player that we hope is going to make an instant impact on our team,” comments Ashford head coach Andy Eberhart. Joiner, the son of Dennis and Del Joiner is undecided on his major.

Ashford Signs Two From Rockford for Men's Basketball
Clinton, IA -
The Ashford University men’s basketball program has announced the signing of two student-athletes from Rockford, Illinois.  Joining the Saints next season will be Byron Emerson, from Guilford High School and Andrew Weber, from Boylan High School.

Ashford Signs Two for Volleyball Program
Clinton, IA -
The Ashford University volleyball program has announced the signing of two more student-athletes.  Joining the Saints next season will be Breelyn McMahon from Princeton, IL and Michelle Kramer from Fulton, IL.

Daniels Commits to Saints Volleyball Program
Clinton, IA - Melissa Daniels committed to the Ashford University Volleyball team for the 2006-2007 season. Melissa graduated from East Central High School. She will transfer from Clinton Community College to join the Saints’ squad in the Fall as they aim to improve on their record breaking season. Daniels has thrived on and off the court and was named as Academic All-Conference as well as being named Honorable Mention All-Conference for her exploits on the court. She was also the 2nd leading blocker in the conference. In High School, she was part of the conference and district championship teams and was name as the Clinton Herald Honorable Mention Team.  Melissa is the daughter of Lynn and Karen Daniels who currently live in Miles, Iowa.

Dykema Signs Letter of Intent with Ashford Softball

Clinton, IA - Kelsey Dykema signed a national letter of intent to play for Ashford University in the 2006-07 season. Dykema will transfer from Black Hawk College in Moline Illinois, and will join Head Coach Steph Christner’s squad as she begins building her squad.

Dykema comes with a wealth of experience and recognition on and off the softball field. She was on the Dean’s List in 2005 and 2006, was Academic All-Conference, made the All-Conference, All Region and All-American teams as a pitcher. Head Coach Steph Christner is excited to have her on board. “Kelsey will make us much stronger in the pitching and in-field area. She has a great attitude and will be a valuable member of next years squad.” Kelsey, a sophomore at Black Hawk, graduated from Morrison High School in 2004 and plans to continue her education in the Sports Management field. She is the daughter of Mary and John Dykema who reside in Morrison, Illinois.

Ashford Baseball Signs Truninger

Clinton, IA - Derek Truninger, from Clinton Iowa, committed to the Ashford University Saints for the 2006-2007 school year.  He will be a member of the Saints’ Baseball Squad.  Derek is a graduate of Northeast High School, and plans to study Elementary Education at Ashford. Truninger, an outfielder, was named as All-Area Honorable Mention and looks to help to improve the Saints’ squad over the next four years. Derek’s parents are Gina and Mark Truninger who live in Clinton, Iowa.

Saints Softball Signs Walter

Clinton, IA - Alysha Walter officially committed to attend Ashford University in the Fall of 2006.  Alysha will become the newest member of the Saints Softball Squad.  Alysha was a named as Offensive MVP and a Team Captain while at Amboy High School, and hopes to carry on her great leadership for the Saints next year.  We are very excited to add Alysha to our squad, said Head Coach Steph Christner, she has a great attitude and will help us to build a strong softball squad.  Walter, from Amboy, Illinois, plans to study Sports and Recreation Management at Ashford University.  Alysha is the daughter of Laurie and Craig Walter.

Rhodes Commits to Saints Volleyball

Clinton, IA - Aubree Rhoades, from Fulton, Illinois, signed for Ashford University and becomes the newest member of the record breaking Saints Volleyball team.  Aubree attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for a semester, and plans to study Education at Ashford University.  Rhoades, an outside hitter, was a 4 year letter winner at Fulton High School and was team captain for both volleyball and basketball.  Aubree was also named as All-Area Clinton Herald Player of the Year. Aubree the daughter of Barb and Jim Rhoades who currently reside in Fulton, Illinois.

Queen Bees Sign Joanna Hirsch for Women's Basketball

Davenport, IA - The SAU women's basketball team has been very busy so far this recruiting season. Thursday, the Queen Bees inked their third recruit of the year, signing Rosary High School's Joanna Hirsch. Hirsch averaged 9.7 points, 3.3 assists, 3.0 steals, and 4.4 rebounds per game last season for a Royals team that finished 20-7. [More]

Davenport, IA - The St. Ambrose women's basketball program and head coach Amy Eagan are proud to announce the signing of Cambridge High School guard Jenny Clark. St. Ambrose University Men’s Golf Coach Jeff Griebel is excited to announce the signing of one of the top high school golfers in the state of Iowa. Dusty Drenth, a senior at Bettendorf High School, has signed a letter of intent and will attend St. Ambrose in the fall 2006.  He is the son of Leslie and Mark Drenth of Davenport, Iowa. [More]

Melissa Krueger, a senior at Rockridge High School (Illinois) has signed a letter of intent and will attend St. Ambrose in the fall of 2006.  She is the daughter of Don and Michelle Krueger of Illinois City, Illinois. SAU Track Signs Two Recruits

Davenport, IA - St. Ambrose University Cross Country & Track is pleased to announce the signing of Cliff Miles from AlWood High School. Miles qualified for the IHSA state tournament in the 3200 and was also an all-state performer in cross country this past fall, finishing 18th place in a time of 15:27. He holds school records in the three mile, 3200m, and 1600m races. [More]

Des Moines, IA - Janae Scott (Central City, Iowa) has committed to the Grand View softball team for the 2006-07 school year announced by head coach Lou A. Yacinich. Scott will transfer from North Iowa Area Community College. Scott is the daughter of Kelly and Denise Scott of Central City. She plans to study graphic design and business entrepreneurship while at Grand View.

                                

Six Commit to Grand View Volleyball
Des Moines, IA - Six athletes have committed to the Grand View volleyball team for the 2006 school year announced by head coach Le Ann Stefani. Jenna Loney (Marshalltown, Iowa), Brandi Drost (Wall Lake, Iowa), Lucy Thomas (Griggsville, Ill.), Samantha Tasler (Churdan, Iowa), McKenna Winter (Norwalk, Iowa), and Amanda Jellema (Des Moines, Iowa) will join the Vikings next season.

Sheimo Commits to Grand View Men’s Golf Program

Des Moines, IA – Tony Sheimo (Forest City, Iowa) has committed to the Grand View men’s golf team for the 2006-07 school year announced by head coach Chris Winkel. Sheimo is the son of Kevin and Jill Sheimo of Forest City.  He plans to study Business Administration at Grand View.

Oskaloosa, IA - William Penn University softball coach Mike Christner has announced the signing of two Iowa high school athletes to National Letters of Intent to attend the University in the fall and compete for the softball program.  Alissa Crumley is a two-time all-conference pitcher at Riverside HS in Oakland.  The native of Oakland and daughter of Mark and Rhonda Crumley, Alissa has also claimed all-district and Honorable-Mention All-State laurels and still has one year of prep competition remaining this summer.   VU Volleyball Wecomes Harelstad

La Crosse, WI - Viterbo University volleyball head coach Ryan Delong announced the signing of Heather Harelstad (Chippewa Falls, WI) to a letter of intent to play for the 2006 V-Hawk squad. Harelstad has had an amazing career as a four year varsity letter winner for Chippewa Falls High School. Harelstad, a libero, was 1st team all conference in the Big Rivers 2003, 2004, and 2005. She was also named defensive player of the year in 2003, 2004, and 2005 and was 1st team all county in 2003 and 2005.  [More]

 

  Feilmeier Commits to Grand View Softball Program

Des Moines, IA – Courtney Feilmeier (Breda, IA) has committed to the Grand View softball team for the 2006-07 school year announced by head coach Lou A. Yacinich. Breda is a Special Mention All-State, First Team All-District, First Team All-Western Iowa, and First Team All-Conference pitcher and utility player from Kuemper Catholic High School. In 2005, the Kuemper Catholic softball team produced a 31-9 record behind Breda’s 1.00 ERA and .313 batting average. She drove in 37 RBI’s and 10 doubles. Feilmeier is the daughter of Mark and Lee Feilmeier of Breda. A four-year honor roll student-athlete, Feilmeier plans to study Business Administration at Grand View.

 

    Pisel Commits to Grand View Softball Program

Des Moines, IA– Lacy Pisel (Gilmore City, IA) has committed to the Grand View softball team for the 2006-07 school year announced by head coach Lou A. Yacinich. Pisel is an Honorable Mention All-State and All-Conference catcher from Twin River Valley School. In 2005, Pisel owned a .444 batting average with 23 RBI, 24 runs scored, a home run, and a .525 slugging percentage.

Pisel is also an accomplished student-athlete. She is a member if the National Honor Society, NSC All-Academic Team, National Council on Youth Leadership, is a three-time Top 5 Award winner, and has received the U.S. Achievement Academy Science Award.

Pisel is the daughter of Kirk and Jolene Pisel of Gilmore City.
