REISINGER NAMED DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS AT MOUNT MERCY COLLEGE

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Scot Reisinger, athletic director at the College of Notre Dame (Md.), has been selected as Mount Mercy College's director of athletics, President-elect Christopher Blake announced Thursday. He will begin work on Aug. 1.

Reisinger (pronounced REE-singer), one of three finalists following a national search, has been athletic director at the Baltimore, Md., institution for the past five years. The College of Notre Dame is an NCAA Division III program in the Atlantic Women's College Conference.

Reisinger has overseen seven varsity sports, as well as the intramural and wellness programs and the college's fitness center. Under his leadership, the College of Notre Dame expanded its athletics budget and completed renovations to its fitness center and soccer/lacrosse field.

"Scot pioneered athletics at the College of Notre Dame and has a strong understanding of how to integrate athletics with the college atmosphere and an institution's mission and goals," said Dr. Blake. "He brings tremendous experience and excitement to Mount Mercy and will be an
outstanding leader for the athletic department."

Reisinger succeeds Don McCormick, who announced his retirement in March after a 15-year tenure as athletic director.

"I am very excited to be selected as the athletic director at Mount Mercy. My family and I are looking forward to the opportunities that lie ahead," Reisinger said. "I would like to thank Dr. Blake and Dr. Robert Nicholson, vice president for student development and dean of students, as well as the search committee for entrusting me with the responsibility for leading the department into the future."

Reisinger, a native of Omaha, Neb., graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in political science and secondary education. He earned his master's degree in psychology from Washington College (Md.) in 1998.
