SUBJECT: Men’s track and field all-conference honors announced

Des Moines, Iowa – The Midwest Classic Conference announces its men’s track and field all-conference honors. Twenty-three men’s track and field conference champions were recognized as members of the all-conference team.

Sophomore Aaron Burns (Lombard, Ill.) of Ashford University was selected as Men’s Track and Field Outstanding Performer at the MCC Meet. Burns won the High Jump, Triple Jump, and was a member of the winning 4x100 relay team.

“Aaron Burns was the MCC leader in all three jumps – Long Jump, Triple Jump, and High Jump – during the indoor season. He continued that dominance at the outdoor meet, winning the Triple Jump and High Jump, while with a single attempt finished second in the Long Jump as well as running a key leg on the victorious 4x100. Aaron carries the admiration and respect of both coaches and fellow student-athletes for his work ethic, performance ability, and good-natured charisma,” said Ashford head coach Dan French.

St. Ambrose University head coach Brianne Appel was selected as the MCC Men’s Track and Field Coach of the Year. Coach Appel led St. Ambrose to the MCC Championship in her first year at the helm of the Bees.

"Coach Appel being recognized by the conference continues to solidify our thoughts and her performance after she has joined the SAU team. Coach Appel has been an outstanding addition to St. Ambrose University and our Athletic program,” said St. Ambrose athletic director Ray Shovlain.
