Maher Signs With Mount Mercy Track and Field
Alyssa Maher of DeWitt Central High School, a five-time
all-stater and winner of two state titles, has signed a letter of intent to join the Mount Mercy College track & field program, head coach Ryan Scheckel announced.
"We are very excited to have Alyssa become part of the school and the
track & field program," commented Scheckel. "She will make in instant
impact here and will allow us to continue to grow. Alyssa is a great
person and someone our athletes will enjoy competing with."
Maher and the Sabers are the two-time defending Iowa Class 3A state
champs in the shuttle-hurdle relay, setting state records in the event
the past two years. She has also been successful at the Drake Relays.
In 2005, she was a 4x100 meter relay champion and runner-up in the
shuttle-hurdle relay, recording the third-fastest time in Iowa prep
