LARGE NAMED NAIA NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

La Crosse, WI – Charlotte Large (Jr.-Mukwonago, WI) of the Viterbo University women’s soccer team was named NAIA National Player of the Week, as it was announced today by NAIA sports information director Dawn Harmon.

Last week, the V-Hawks were in the midst of the Midwest Classic Conference tournament. Large recorded three shuts outs in the MCC tournament to help lead the V-Hawks to their first MCC conference tournament title. In the semifinal match versus St. Ambrose University, Large recorded 10 saves as the V-Hawks defeated the Fighting Bees 1-0 in overtime. Then on Saturday, Large turned away the four shots she faced from William Penn University. The V-Hawks defeated the Statesmen 2-0 to claim the conference tournament title.

On the season, Large now has a school record 11 shut outs and 58 saves. Large has allowed only 9 goals all season. In her career, Large has a career school record 23 shut outs. Earlier this week, Large was named to the MCC honorable mention team. This award, along with MCC player of the week and Region VII player of the week, is the first of its kind for Large.

As a team, the V-Hawks are in the midst of their best season in school history. The V-Hawks are 16-3 overall and claimed a regular season conference championship as well. The V-Hawks will play in their first regional tournament in school history on Friday. Viterbo will play Trinity Christian in the semifinals of the NAIA Region VII tournament at 1:00 pm in Des Moines, IA.
