SUBJECT: Volleyball All-Conference Honors Announced
Des Moines, IA – The Midwest Classic Conference announces its volleyball All-Conference honors. Thirty athletes were recognized as part of the All-Conference Teams as voted by the coaches; twelve to the First Team and eighteen to the Honorable Mention Team.
Iowa Wesleyan College senior middle hitter Luren Baylon (Lima, Peru) was voted as the MCC Player of the Year. Baylon transferred to Iowa Wesleyan from Miami Dade Community College where she was an All-American selection. In her two years with the Tigers, Baylon is a two-time First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-Region VII selection. Baylon earned MCC Player of the Week five times this season and was the first volleyball player from Iowa Wesleyan to be named the NAIA National Player of the Week in October. She will leave the Tiger program as the career record holder in attack percentage (currently .414) and is second in career kills per game (currently 5.81).
"As a first year coach it has been an honor to coach this very talented group of young ladies.
Luren receiving this honor is a tribute to her tremendous skills. She is a leader on and off the court and
provides the punch that lifts the talents of everyone on this team. I know everyone is proud of her
and share in her joy at this moment. This is a very proud moment for Luren, her team mates and for
Iowa Wesleyan
College volleyball," said head coach Brian Dickens.
Mount Mercy head coach Paul MacDonald was selected by his peers as the MCC Coach of the Year.
MacDonald, in his third season with the Mustangs, led Mount Mercy to a 24-9 regular season record, finishing in second place in the MCC at 6-1.

"We are extremely happy for Coach MacDonald who is very deserved of this honor. Coach MacDonald has worked hard in the past three years to rebuild the Mustang program and get it back on track as one of the strongest programs in the league as in past years,” said Mount Mercy athletic director Don McCormick.
