For the eighth year in a row, St. Ambrose won the women's golf conference championship. And for the second straight year, the Queen Bees will be heading to the NAIA National Championship.

SAU picked the ideal time for its best round of the year, shooting a 326 to open up a 17-shot lead after Saturday's first round of the Midwest Collegiate Conference Championship at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny, Iowa. The team followed with a 337 Sunday to cruise to the conference title by 28 shots over second place Viterbo.

Kenzie Hein led the way. The senior from Iowa City, Iowa, won individual medalist honors after winning a playoff on the first hole following her two-round 158 (77-81).

Hein was joined on the All-Tournament team by junior teammate Megan Marolf, who tied for fifth overall with a 163 (83-80). Caiti Childers narrowly missed a top-five finish, shooting a 167 (79-88) to tie for seventh.

The three other Queen Bees placed in the top 16. Ashlie Justice carded a 175 (87-88) for 12th place, Tori Bown fired a 178 (89-89) for 15th and Krisha Knary shot a 179 (87-92) to take 16th.

Viterbo's 691 (343-348) left the V-Hawks 28 shots behind the Queen Bees (326-337=663). Ashford finished in third place with a 695 (350-345).

Clarke College's Megan Chitty took second individually after falling in the playoff to Hein. Ashford's Jordan Davis (81-79=160), Viterbo's Lauren Lindsley (78-83=161) and Grand View's Amalia Meiji (83-80=163) were also recognized as part of the six-member All-Tournament team.

The Queen Bees earned the conference's automatic berth into the 2010 NAIA Women's Golf Championship, which will be played May 25-28 at Meadowbrook Municipal Golf Course in Rapid City, S.D.
