Oskaloosa--Statesmen cager Kris Miller (Sr., Belleville, Mich., Belleville HS) received one final piece of collegiate hardware as the 2009-2010 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball All-America teams were announced yesterday.

Miller was placed on the Honorable Mention squad for the second time in his career, having also earned the award in 2008-2009. He becomes just the second player in program history to receive two All-America awards, joining Eric Otto in 1970 and 1971.

Miller paced Penn to a 22-11 campaign (9-7 MCC) and an appearance in the MCC Tournament Finals for the third time in his career (sixth time in seven years for the program).

The senior was second in the conference with 19.5 points per game, trailing only Viterbo's Scott Buschman's 20.4 points. Buschman was named to the NAIA's First Team as well as being MCC Player of the Year.

Miller also ranked in the top ten in the MCC in several other categories, including assists per game (4.03, 3rd), steals per game (1.82, 3rd), three-pointers made per game (2.67, 3rd), blocked shots per game (1.03, 4th), assist/turnover ratio (+1.14, 8th), three-point percentage (.370, 9th), and defensive rebounds per game (3.85, 10th).

For the year, Miller led Penn in many categories, including points (645), all three-point areas (88-238, .370), assists (133), blocks (34), and steals (60). He also averaged 4.8 rebounds per contest. The senior was named MCC Player of the Week twice.

Miller departs the program as one of the most prolific Statesmen cagers ever. He is first in steals (227), second in points (1,722), second in three-pointers made (203), third in field goals made (630), third in assists (390), fourth in blocks (82), and seventh in free throws made (259).

Corey Viet of Grand View was a Second-Team pick, while Keith Kuenstling of Mount Mercy joined Miller on the Honorable Mention squad.  Steve Briggs of Oklahoma Wesleyan was named NAIA Player of the Year.
