KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Mount Mercy sophomore right-hander Derrick Weber was named a 2009 NAIA honorable mention all-American, while junior second baseman Ryan Lopez landed on the 2009 Rawlings-NAIA Gold Glove Team, as selected by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association (BCA) All-America Selection Committee.

Weber was a first-team all-Midwest Collegiate Conference pick this spring and is one of only two sophomores in school history to earn baseball all-American honors. He finished 9-1 with a 2.72 earned run average in 15 appearances for the Mustangs. In 82 2/3 innings, Weber gave up 78 hits while striking out 62 and walking 34.

Lopez was recognized as the top fielding second baseman in the nation. He made just four errors in 230 chances, with 95 putouts and 131 assists. Lopez also batted .281 with three home runs and 17 RBIs for Mount Mercy.
