La Crosse, Wis. - Micaela Bjerke (Sr. - Rochester, Minn.) and Missy Glenna (Sr. - Mabel, Minn.) each put their named in the Viterbo University volleyball records book this past weekend. Bjerke broke the all-time assists record while Glenna joined the 1,000 club in both digs and kills.

Bjerke currently has 2,806 assists and breaks a record that was set by Carly Chenoweth in 2005 when she finished her career with 2,786 assists. Bjerke began her career in 2005 when she finished with 351 assists in 88 games.

Since her freshman season, Bjerke has been a mainstay for the V-Hawks playing in more than 90% of the V-Hawks games. In 2006, Bjerke set the single season record with 1,016 assists. She then finished with 950 assists as a junior which is the fourth most in a single season.

"I am very proud of Mac's special accomplishment; she has been a contributing part of our turnaround," commented Head Coach Ryan DeLong. "Mac has had an outstanding career here at Viterbo, starting as one of our setters right away as a freshman. Mac was around when things were just starting to turnaround, she has been part of the building process for our program and I appreciate all that she has done."

Glenna became just the second player in school history to have over 1000 digs and 1000 kills in a career. She also became just the third player in school history to break the 1,000 kills mark. Chelsea Muckenhirn is the only other player to have achieved 1,000 digs and kills in a V-Hawk career in 2006. Glenna currently sits third on the all-time kills list and fifth on the all-time digs list. Although her role has changed drastically throughout her career, one thing remains the same for Glenna and that is her heart and passion for the game of volleyball. Her accomplishing these milestones is a testament to how she has played the game of volleyball over the last four years.

"Missy plays the game with great passion, heart, and determination," stated Coach DeLong. "This accomplishment is very special and I am proud of Missy, it is something that has only been done one other time in V-Hawk history. Missy is a complete player-she plays tremendous defense and attacks hard offensively-to break the 1000/1000 mark you need to be able to do it all and Missy does."

As a team, the V-Hawks are 25-10 overall and sit in a three way tie for first place in the Midwest Collegiate Conference with a 4-1 record. The V-Hawks still have to play both teams (St. Ambrose and Waldorf) they are tied with. Viterbo will face St. Ambrose University on Wednesday night in Davenport, Iowa at 7:00 pm. They will be back home next week for their final regular season home game on October 29th.
