Oskaloosa--As part of the NAIA's Champions of Character initiative, the Penn men's soccer team assisted in the construction of a new playground in the nearby town of Beacon.

The team spent the entire day on Friday, August 15 constructing the playground from the ground up, including a good deal of ground work and all assembly of the playground. Several members of the community were also present in the construction.

"This was a terrific opportunity for us to give back to our community," Statesmen Head Coach Kevin Rushing said. "The guys were real troopers and worked very hard to get the job done quicker than expected. I think they felt really great about doing this work, especially when they saw the final product."

Beacon is a small town that neighbors Oskaloosa.
