Clarke College Athletic Director Curt Long announced today that Rick Arrington has been named the college's head women's golf coach and that Jerry Hanson has been selected as the Crusaders' head men's golf coach.

"Rick and Jerry are assets to Clarke athletics," said Long. "They both have excellent credentials and proven success in intercollegiate athletics."

Arrington served as Clarke's women's tennis coach the past 13 years and as the men's tennis coach the past seven years. He guided his women's team to nine consecutive league titles while the Crusaders were members of the Northern Illinois – Iowa Conference. During a 12-year span, Arrington's women's team compiled a 47-5 record in league play. He was an eight-time NIIC Coach of the Year recipient.

Arrington is a member of the National Golf Coaches Association.

A native of Kansas City, Mo., Arrington received his bachelor of science degree in physical education, health and safety from Northwest Missouri State University.

Rick and his wife, Teresa, have two grown children, Deanne and Dan.

Hanson, who has served as Clarke's sports information director the past 11 years, came to Clarke from Briar Cliff University, Sioux City, Iowa, where he spent 18 years as sports information director and seven years as men's golf coach.

Hanson will continue his duties as sports information director.

Hanson was the 1994 recipient of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Clarence "Ike" Pearson Award and was a 2000 inductee into the Briar Cliff Athletic Hall of Fame.

A native of Sioux City, Hanson received his bachelor of arts degree in communication from Briar Cliff.

Jerry and his wife, Jeanne Helling, have three children, Cody, 17; Rebecca, 14; and Carter, nine.
