Oskaloosa, Iowa--William Penn University women's golf coach Connie Groet has announced the signing of Mayci Rule to a letter of intent to attend the University in the fall and compete for the newly reestablished women's golf program.

Rule, a native of Idaho Falls, Idaho, is currently a senior at Skyline HS. The daughter of Milt and Shonni Rule, Mayci recently placed fifth last week in her conference tournament, leading the way for the state-qualifying Lady Grizzlies. She will compete in the Idaho state tournament this week to wrap up her high school career.

Under the direction of coach Ty Shippen, Rule is Skyline's number one female golfer and earned first-team all-conference honors during her junior year and second-team all-conference laurels as a freshman and sophomore.

She was also the Idaho Falls Junior City Champion her freshman and sophomore years and runner-up her junior year. She is the reigning Sage Lakes Golf Course Women's Club Champion in her flight, winning the tournament by five shots in 2007.

"I am proud to be a part of the reestablished William Penn women's golf team," Rule said. "I look forward to working hard and representing William Penn to the best of my ability."

"Congratulations to Mayci Rule and to the William Penn University women's golf team!" Groet said. "Mayci is our first signed recruit to the women's golf program after a six-year hiatus and to have her on board to help rebuild this program is a great first step!"

"I look forward to having Mayci compete for us," Groet added. "She is an accomplished golfer who works continuously on her game. I am pleased she is here at WPU not only to continue her golf career but her education as well."

Mayci becomes the second sibling in her family to attend Penn as her older brother Nik is currently a member of the men's golf squad.
