CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Four eastern Iowa preps have signed letters of intent to compete for the Mount Mercy College women’s golf program in 2008-09, Head Coach Colin Williams announced.

"We are very excited to have four very promising players join our program next fall, and we are looking forward to working with all of them," said Williams.

Two of the signees have state tournament experience. Laura Wilberg, a senior at Vinton-Shellsburg High School, finished 11th at the 2006-07 Iowa Class 3A state meet, while Amy Devine, a senior at Waterloo Columbus High School, placed eighth as a sophomore at the 2005-06 Iowa Class 2A state tournament.

Kristine Kouba and Jessica Mrkvicka have been all-conference standouts during their prep careers. Kouba, a senior at Midland High School, was first-team all-conference as a sophomore and junior. She also made the Iowa Class 1A all-district team her junior season.

Mrkvicka, a senior at Linn-Mar High School and an Airport National Junior Open champion, was a second-team all-Metro and honorable mention all-Mississippi Valley Conference player as a junior.
