This past weekend, Viterbo had its first meet, while Grand View wins at Cornell and Ashford wins at Illinois College.
Behind a big day from Tyler Wells, the Grand View Vikings took home top honors at the Cornell Invite against fellow MCC teams St. Ambrose and Mount Mercy.
Wells qualified for nationals in both the shot put and the weight throw, winning the shot put with a toss of 52-3.75. It was one of six wins on the day for the Vikings as Keonte White (60m), Wes Hammer (200m), Pete Westerkamp (LJ) , the 4x200 and 4x400 relays all took gold.
The MCC continued to dominate the meet as St. Ambrose had four event wins and Mount Mercy two. The Fighting Bees won events behind Joseph Torres (HJ and 400m), Nick Gentzler (800m) and Danny Rufus (WT). Torres' jump and Rufus' throw were both national qualifying marks. The Mustangs picked up a pair of wins from Andre Moodie who won the 600 and 1000m races.
Ashford won the 12-team Illinois College Snowbird meet thanks to five event winners and a new national qualifier.
Justin Kilpatrick won the 60m dash with a time of 6.94 seconds to qualify him for the NAIA National Championships. Also winning their events were Mike Malone (LJ), Emmanuel Panchol (TJ), AJ Smith (HJ) and Ed Awah (60m hurdles).
The Viterbo V-Hawks had their first-ever track meet at UW-Stout, and competed with a small group of men, as Jacob Butler had a runner-up finish in the 3,000-meter run.
