The Midwest Collegiate Conference has announced its most recent weekly honors. Award winners were:
Keith Steffeck (Men's Basketball - William Penn),
Anna Jones (Women's Basketball - Iowa Wesleyan),
Gabriel Green (Men's Indoor Track - William Penn),
Justin Ludwikowski (Men's Indoor Field - Ashford),
Obsie Birru (Women's Indoor Track - Grand View) and
Brittany Demmer (Women's Indoor Field - Clarke).
Men's Basketball
Keith Steffeck - William Penn (Jr., Forward from Marion, Iowa)
Steffeck averaged 21 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks last week as the Statesmen split a pair on conference play. He shot 48.1% from the floor and 78.6% from the free throw line.
Women's Basketball
Anna Jones - Iowa Wesleyan (Sr., Guard from Cornell, Ill.)
Jones averaged 25 points, eight rebounds, three assists and 4.5 steals last week, shooting 44.4% from the field and 93.8% from the foul line as the Tigers swept two MCC games.
Men's Indoor Track
Gabriel Green - William Penn (Jr., from Anniston, Ala.)
Green won the 200 meter dash at the University of Dubuque Sol Butler Classic, hitting the NAIA ‘B' qualifying standard with a time of 22.25 seconds.
Men's Indoor Field
Justin Ludwikowski - Ashford (Sr., from Roland, Ill.)
Ludwikowski won the heptathlon and hit the NAIA qualifying mark with a school record score of 4,498 points at the Carthage (Wis.) Private College Invitational.
Women's Indoor Track
Obsie Birru - Grand View (Sr., from Des Moines, Iowa)
Birru won the 3,000 meters with an NAIA ‘A' standard time of 10:16.71 at the University of Northern Iowa Panther Open. She also finished third in both the 1,000 meters and mile and fifth in the 600.
Women's Indoor Field
Brittany Demmer - Clarke (Soph., from Dubuque, Iowa)
Demmer finished second in the weight throw and topped the NAIA ‘A' standard for automatic qualification to the NAIA Indoor Championships with a throw of 51-3 3/4 (15.64m) at the Sol Butler Classic.
