The 2010-11 Midwest Collegiate Conference women's basketball preseason poll has been released with Grand View picked as the top team in the conference based on the vote of league coaches.
The Vikings received 78 points and six first-place votes to take the top spot over defending champion Iowa Wesleyan, which received the other three first-place votes and 67 points total. St. Ambrose finished third in the voting with 66 points.
Grand View finished 27-9 last year, 13-3 and second in the MCC standings. The Vikings and Iowa Wesleyan both advanced to the Elite 8 of the NAIA Division II National Tournament. GVU returns First Team All-MCC guard Jennifer Jorgensen and brings back three of its top scorers from last season.
Iowa Wesleyan returns four of five starters from last year's 27-8 team that went 15-1 in the conference regular season. St. Ambrose tied for third in the MCC while finishing 24-8 last year and just missing the national tourney, and the Queen Bees bring back former MCC Player of the Year Ali Dolphin for her senior year.
